Gritty and bitter.

We put this protein into a container instead of the bag for more secure storage. We’ve been using this pretty consistently for the last couple weeks. The ingredients all look good and the protein is decent for the serving. But the taste is pretty bad and the texture is worse. It’s very gritty and that makes it hard to enjoy. It does blend easily with other ingredients for smoothies but it tends to ruin the taste of the protein smoothies. For the price of it, we weren’t very impressed.

Chocolate Pea Protein

This Pea Protein Powder really hits the spot. The chocolate flavor is good, and the mix blends up well in water. The powder easily dissolves with stirring or shaking. I find the pea protein easy on the stomach, and it's a great way to supplement protein in my diet to aid in my workouts. I love that the ingredient list is super clean and minimal. This is a fantastic product, I would highly recommend it.

Clean ingredients, great taste, smooth

I’ve tried a lot of plant-based protein powders over the years, and this one honestly surprised me — in a good way. The chocolate flavor is rich without being overly sweet, and it mixes really well (no gritty or chalky texture like so many others). I’ve blended it with both oat milk and almond milk, and it tastes like a light chocolate shake — even better with a few ice cubes.I love that it’s sweetened with monk fruit instead of stevia, so there’s no weird aftertaste. The ingredient list is clean and simple — just pea protein, cocoa, and a few natural extras — and it’s nice knowing I’m not loading up on artificial junk. The 20g of protein per serving is perfect for post-workout recovery, and I’ve actually noticed less soreness after lifting days since I started using it. I also appreciate the eco-friendly choice of leaving out the plastic scoop — the serving size (¼ cup) is easy enough to measure at home.If you’re looking for a plant-based protein that’s clean, tastes good, and supports recovery without unnecessary additives, this is a great pick. I’ll definitely be buying it again — and might try the vanilla flavor next!

Blends well and has a good taste

For a chocolate protein powder, I thought that this one was pretty good. It blended easily with a decent texture and had a nice, chocolatey flavor. It made a satisfying protein shake and worked mixed in with other foods as well. Although, having tried the vanilla flavor of this product, I like the vanilla version better. The chocolate flavor is good, but simple, and the vanilla version had a better flavor profile in my opinion. There was no plastic scoop included with the protein powder. Instead, the serving size is clearly labeled as 1/4 cup so that you can use your own measuring utensils and there's less plastic waste. While the environmental impact of this might not be humungous, I did appreciate the thought, and I liked being able to use my own measuring tools if I wanted to use half a serving without having to eyeball half a scoop like I have to do with a lot of other protein powders. When it came to nutrition, the protein powder had a good amount of protein at 20g and it had a good portion (30%) of the daily recommended value of iron as well. It was sweetened with monk fruit, so it didn't have any added sugar which was a great attribute of the powder. It was higher in sodium than I would have liked, but it was similar to a lot of other varieties on the market. While not my all-time favorite protein powder, there wasn't anything I would call bad about it either, which sometimes is enough to call something good.

My 8 year old is on a very restrictive diet and struggles to get enough protein. We have tried several different plant-based protein powders and this is by far the best. We mix it with almond milk and it taste great. There's very little chalky aftertaste. It mixes well and is smooth. The price is a little high, but it is worth it. I like that it comes in a resealable bag instead of a container that takes up too much room in the cabinet.

Taste good but not enough like chocolate

I've tried the vanilla version of this product and really really loved it but this version, while it does taste good, it doesn't taste anywhere near chocolatey enough to be a chocolate flavor, in my opinion. If I make it just buy itself with water or milk or a milk alternative, I can kind of taste the chocolate but if you mix it with absolutely anything else, from my experience, it doesn't taste like chocolate anymore, it just tastes sweet. I did a smoothie with some oat milk, a banana, and then this powder and it just tasted like banana and sweetness, it didn't taste anything like chocolate. I do love how this protein powder is not grainy at all, which I personally find to be difficult to find with a plant protein. I like the flavor and I like the sweetness and I also like the volume that you get and the amount of protein. So, this has a lot of wonderful properties, it's just that I do not think they made a chocolatey enough to call it chocolate. If they made it taste more like chocolate, then it would be five stars.

Plant based dairy free chocolate protein powder. Good ingredients list. Chalky pea protein.

As somewhat expected from a pea protein this stuff is pretty chalky in texture. The ingredients list is as short as can be, just pea protein, cocoa, some tapioca fiber, salt, and sweetened with monk fruit with cellulose gum as a thickener. Major bonus points for the ingredients list and nothing artificial. The cocoa flavor shines and is chocolatey. No added sugar and 20 grams protein for 130 cals makes this very macro friendly for gym goers. There are certainly better tasting and mixing whey based powders but if you are vegan this is a decent option.

Decently Smooth texture. Chocolate is a bit watery in flavor.

Kyhv Nutrition Recovery Plant Based Protein Powder comes in a zipper bag. No scoop is provided. A serving is 1/4cup/ 34g, which is quite a lot of powder. Each bag is 23 servings or so.This is a vegan, non-soy protein powder. The ingredients list is simple - Pea Protein, Natural Flavors, Dutch Cocoa (processed with alkali), Tapioca Fiber, Sea Salt, Monk Fruit Extract, Cellulose Gum. Pea protein is nice as it is /close to a complete protein (sometimes cited low in methionine). I like that it is Monk Fruit instead of Stevia, which tastes like chemicals to me. The calorie count to protein ratio is pretty good for vegan protein, though the chocolate has 10 more calories than the Vanilla.I primarily use whey, and dabble in other proteins to see if they are drinkable. I got both Kyhv's Vanilla and Chocolate Flavor. I like Chocolate protein as it is one I can drink on its own without and get a bit of a treat. I followed the directions on the bag - 34g with 10oz of water.Kyhv Nutrition Recovery Plant Based Protein mixes very well. I used a shaker bottle and it combined quickly. No lumps. The texture isn't silky smooth, but has a slight fine powder feeling if I'm looking for it. Mindlessly drinking I notice no texture. The Kyhv Chocolate flavor is kinda watery, even using the low amount of water it calls for. The Vanilla is overly sweet, but the Chocolate has a bit of a bitter aftertaste. I'm guessing, adding more Chocolate flavor and sweetner will just add more to the calorie count. I can chug the Chocolate flavor and just deal with it, unlike the Vanilla. But that said, Vanilla is a little better pick as you can smoothie it.

Protein Powder - Chocolate

This chocolate drink mix tastes fantastic! I love being able to enjoy a chocolate beverage that's also healthy. The protein in this drink mix keeps my stomach full for hours. I don't feel like I need to snack as often. It mixes in better to a bit of warm water before adding to milk.

Clean ingredients and it mixes well, but it’s honestly overpriced for what you get. The taste is fine and it does the job, yet there are cheaper plant-based proteins with similar macros. Not bad but just hard to justify at this price point.

after effects

This plant-based protein powder delivers a solid 20g of vegan protein, and the chocolate flavor is better than most dairy-free powders I’ve tried. It mixes smoothly with water or almond milk and avoids the gritty texture a lot of plant proteins have. The only downside for me is that it does make me a bit gassy, which might be something to keep in mind if you’re sensitive to certain protein blends. Otherwise, it’s a good option for clean, vegan-friendly recovery shakes.

Pretty Good Plant Based Protein

This is a good protein powder that mixes easily. The chocolate flavor is smooth and rich. The plant-based formula and ingredients look good and feels clean. It doesn’t taste chalky or leave an aftertaste. I use it daily and it seems to be doing well. This is worth the money.

Smooth and tasty!

This is fantastic for those of us who prefer plant based protein. It mixes well and tastes amazing, just like a chocolate shake.Would buy this again for the right price.

Decent flavor, easier to blend in hot milk than cold

This protein powder says it can be mixed with water or milk, but I definitely prefer it with milk. It mixes in most easily if the milk is hot, and my favorite way to use it currently is mixing it into my hot cocoa. I love that it's high iron as well as high protein. The taste is relatively mild -- I wouldn't use it just for flavor, for sure, but that isn't what it's for anyway. The flavor is subtle enough that it's good to mix in with whatever flavors I'm already using.Overall this is a great way to get extra protein into my health-challenged teenager, and I like it well enough to use it for myself as well.

Little gritty; underlying aftertaste; fine in smaller quantities

Kyhv Recovery Plant Based Protein Powder, Chocolate Flavor, 28 oz (ASIN : B0FK9WZW75) I tried this first try with ~12 oz water, since it's make with pea protein, I expected a little more water would help with any gritiness. I shook it up and refrigerated it overnight, since I like my cold drinks icy cold. When I pulled it out for breakfast, it has separated. It remixed fine with a little shaking. The chocolate flavor is good, and while there is some grittiness, I don't think it's more than usual for a pea protein. There is a slight aftertaste, I think from the monk fruit sweetener. I can't drink a full serving at once, because the underlying taste annoys me pretty fast. It's not terrible, just not something I want in a large quantity all at once. I'm trying a half serving, twice a day, and that's working out better.

Good product, slightly lacking in flavoring

After trying like 10+ protein powders through the vine program, I would rate this as a 6 on a scale of 10 in flavor, 8 in texture, 7 in protein content per serving, 9 in mixability, with a 9 in overall protein quality. So rating this as 7.8/10 overall. I do like that it mostly has natural ingredients with no major additives. This product is from the same company Lokanto that sells Monk Fruit based sweeteners and is based in Japan.

Good quality plant-based protein

I am not vegan and usually consume whey protein, but also use plant-based proteins from time to time. This protein is pea-based, with a handful of other quality clean ingredients, like cocoa powder, tapioca fiber, sea salt, and cellulose gum. I like that it is sweetened by monk fruit extract, which is calorie-free and tastes better than stevia. The powder comes in a convenient space-saving pouch, with 23 servings in it, each containing 20 g of protein at 130 calories. Each serving will also provide you with 6% of your daily potassium, 10% calcium and 30% of your daily iron need. Not bad at all. This protein is gluten-free and non-GMO. It is made in USA, and the company's legal address is in Utah. The scoop is not provided for environmental reasons. The serving size is 1/4 cup, or 34 grams. After weighing the servings a couple of times on the food scale, I found a permanent 1/4 cup kitchen scoop and keep it in, for convenience. As for the taste, it is slightly chalky, but this is true of all plant-based proteins, and is OK if you get used to it. It is not super smooth, but it mixes reasonably well if you add slightly more liquid than recommended and use a shaker or a blender - but this is also true for most vegan protein powders. The chocolate flavor is a bit watery, even is you use the lowest recommended amount of water. But if you use milk instead, dairy or plant-based, it becomes very drinkable. The fact that the chocolate flavor is not very pronounced, also allows for using this protein in smoothies, just as you would vanilla-flavored protein, as it doesn't really overshadow the fruit/veggie taste. Recommended.

Protein powder seems pricey. Mixed well with almond milk

I mixed this with almond milk right out of the cold fridge and it goes down smooth. The almond mill has enough sweet to offset the artificial sweetner bitterness. It isn't horrible with really cold water but the flavor is a little off and I attribute that to the sweetener. The price is yikes! Perhaps I'm missing something.

Tastes great and dissolves easily

I drink a lot of protein powders, and if you like chocolate, this is a really good one. The taste is very chocolately. I would bet if you added ice, this would taste like a milkshake. It has 20 g of pea protien, plant based protiein per serving, which is a good. It mixed into my soy milk easily. No gritty or undissolved bits. The size of the bag is good, and it's filled so much I had a bit of a mess when scooping it out initially, but considering how many bags/containers I get that are a third empty, I'm happy for a full bag. It makes this a good value.

Clean Protein, Pricey Bag

This plant-based protein has a nice faint chocolate flavor without the chalky grit that ruins a lot of vegan powders. It mixes easily in water or almond milk, and I like that it’s free from dairy, soy, and gluten. At 20g of protein per serving and no added sugar, it feels like a clean option for recovery shakes. That said, the price tag is steep—$49.99 for a 28 oz bag makes each scoop feel like a splurge. It’s good quality, but I’d need to be convinced the benefits outweigh the cost compared to other plant-based proteins I’ve tried. Still, for those who prioritize clean ingredients and taste, this is a solid choice.
